Use a padded mattress cover, and a quilted bedspread over your blanket.

A dust ruffle to help conceal box spring.
Feather bed mattress top. (You can buy for existing bed. They strap on with elastic.)
    A nice sheet set.
    Feather comforter with cover
    2 pillows in bed sheets
2 pillows on top of those with different sham
If your bed has a small headboard, buy or make a larger one.
Matching bedside tables and lamps with soft lighting help give the bed a cozy feeling.

I just bought a foam mattress cover (one side is corragated and the other is memory foam) Just lays on top of mattress and put the sheet over it. It stays in place and is very very comfy. Use a pretty comforter (the thicker the softer), dust ruffle and big comfy pillows with shams. Use four pillows. I use pillow cases for shams also. I would use white lace one on the front pillows and pillow cases that match a color in the comforter on the back pillows.

The mattress pad came from walmart….it cost about $30 for a full. They have cheaper ones, but I liked the thickness of this one.

Use soft lighting, maybe a three way bulb in the bedside lamp for reading.

Pick soft colors (yellows, pinks, greens, etc)
    Good Luck and sweet dreams!!!
